A reader writes: My wife treats digital cameras like they're disposables, so once again I'm in charge of finding her next victim. Since I know I'll be in this position again by the end of summer, what's my best option for a camera that takes great pictures, is simple as pie to use, and is cheap enough that it won't make me cry when she inevitably busts it -- say under $150 or so? I've ...

Young fashion designer Jason Wu seems to be the latest creative mind to partner with a large electronics corporation in the interest of making photography chic again. Since Polaroid named Gaga as its creative director, tech giants have been turning to fashion to give their substance some style. While the digital revolution has changed the face of photography, itself, camera accessories have remained largely the same since the analog age. Straps are still made of fabric, cases are still plastic, and most mounting accessories still have three rigid legs. Joby made waves in 2006 with its line of Gorillapods, essentially tripods with notched, bendable legs. The unique design let ...

If accusations made by a suit filed against Pennsylvania's Lower Merion School District on behalf of Harriton High School student Blake Robbins are true, we can't imagine a single valid defense for the school system's actions. According to the court documents, Robbins was disciplined last November by assistant principle Lindy Matsko for "improper behavior in the home." As evidence of this ...

So, you've got your digital SLR, and you've got your lenses. And perhaps by now you've realized that carrying all of this gear is in and of itself a rather serious endeavor.
When it comes to camera bags, every photographer has his or her own needs. There are so many variables, from where you're going to be shooting, to what kind of bag best suits your frame. There are the questions ...

Ever fancied yourself a graphic designer but found that you lack the skills to compose an arresting image? As usual nowadays, the iPhone has come to your rescue. Sometimes, albeit rarely, what initially seems like wasting time on the Web can turn out to be anything but that. Case in point, a German woman who had only wanted to enjoy a beautiful view via a webcam recently became a long-distance lifesaver.
According to the Associated Press, an unidentified woman was recently watching a live webcam broadcast of the sun setting over the North Sea when she ...

She could team up with any industry in the world, but songstress and superstar Lady Gaga has a taste for tech. "Pokerface" debuted with her Heartbeats headphones, and a Wii even appeared in "Bad Romance." But yesterday, Polaroid announced that the platinum provocateur will be its new creative director, shifting parts of the brand back to the instant film development that made it ...

Where that connectivity is concerned, the CL80 is the pick of the bunch, packed out with wireless sharing ...

First out of the gate for Samsung for CES 2010 is the NX10 digital camera, which we first heard news about back in December. The device seems aimed for the Micro Four Thirds (a compact alternative to the DSLR) market, currently marked by the Olympus E-P1 and some of Panasonic's shooters.
Though the NX10 leaves you with a digital viewfinder (unlike SLR cameras), the compact 14.6 megapixel NX10 ...

Have you ever wondered what you'd look like if someone created a mosaic of your face entirely out of LEGO blocks?
No? Neither have we. Which does leave us a little confused as to why LEGO decided to make its first foray into the iPhone App Store a photography program. Now don't get us wrong, 'LEGO Photo' is pretty cool -- you snap photos, or edit ones already on your phone, and with the push ...

The Web has been part of the public consciousness for roughly 20 years now. But it was only in the last decade that we saw the Internet start to realize its full potential. Services offering music, social networking, online storage, collaborative document editing, and all else sprung up by the thousands. Of course, this period of experimentation, exploration, and growth was bound to leave a few ...

According to Crunch Gear, the invention was recently certified by Guinness World Records as having more lenses than any other camera in the world. The lenses are lined up in four rows ...
